If God exists, and is of such a nature as to take an interest in us, it makes sense that He would reveal Himself to us, at least in part. If there is revelation, it makes sense that it would unfold as an historical process, in order to form the institutions that would best safeguard the message and ensure its continuation. Such an institution would be the Church, which would need to be strong enough to survive, and visible enough that people knew where to look for guidance....People believe in the Bible and/or the Church, not the individual unctuous fellow....
