Exactly, the issue is that the government has encouraged these two companies to beat each other to death in the name of competition. Air Canada was not doing particularly well, but in comparison to Canadian is was doing great. With the relaxation of the competition laws AC will do well regardless of who runs it, I see no reason to agree to the Onex bid.

Those who say Air Canada has done a bad job of managing its affairs have it completely wrong.

In particular the "successes" of the winter storm and the air pilot strike come to mind here. Quite a stellar job indeed.
