I think that Y2K will have people's eyes glazing over by the Nov meeting...but we shall see.

I'm really doing the shorthand now......

B.C = Briefing.Com

I like those guys they burn the midnight oil watching Asia and Europe with due vigillence

BTW Chinese finance minister Huaicheng says china has made tremendous sacrifices in not devaluing the yuan, called on G-3 to co-ordinate.

also from B.C

Bill, what makes you think the Fed will raise next week? I agree that if they were concerned about saving credibility they might raise. However, recent statements certainly seem to indicate they are more concerned about perpetuating the bubble than adhering to sound monetary policy. Eg:

biz.yahoo.com

If they were to raise rates at this juncture Asymmetric Al would be wearing a necktie with a very long rope and a tree attached to it. I doubt AA has any plans to be the guest of honor at a public lynching.

Also, don't you think it was odd timing for the Europeans to come out with their gold announcement right after the G7 meeting? Timing like that is always more than accidental.
