China is indeed in the process of mutation, although I find all this posturing toward Taiwan troubling. What I await is the reunification of Korea, which will shift the various balances of power dramatically in the region; unfortunately, I don't think that it will occur without some final explosion. We are already seeing the signs of it.

X -- re. best scenario for China collapse, may I infer from your remarks that govt action in case of T. Square was the "right thing to do," at the time? FWIW, I would agree with you if you answer, "yes."
