The automobile analogy.

Interestingly it is the analogy that gun-control likes to use when they want to license gun-owners and register guns.
Why not use the analogy of the other rights, free speech, free press, freedom to assemble peacefully and freedom to petition the government for grievances. Should we license free speech (you lose your license when you use hate speech) or free press (license to own and operate a newspaper or newsletter or news-site on internet) or permit for political meetings or indeed church meetings, or requires licenses to pass around petitions. I know you are not advocating anything like this, but analogies can be inherently weak. The car is a very new device and it's defined use is completely different from a firearm etc. etc.

Gordon
