Pete, this being the largest corporate takeover in history, each and every telecom "expert" would have something to say about it. This time next year after the deal closes, the synergies would become clearer, and as usual, everyone would be applauding the sensibilities of such a deal.

By the way, in another story:
"We knew from day one the burden of proof would be on us to show this is competitive," Ebbers said, adding that he had spoken to Kennard earlier Tuesday. "The chairman told us he would keep an open mind."

They'll be able to close this deal.
