About JDSU...
From my perspective Q is still a much cheaper stock than JDSU based on what I feel will be next year's earnings on the Q ($4) as opposed to what the analysts are saying.
I haven't been able to follow JDSU as closely.
Are the analysts as off with their estimates on JDSU as as they are on the Q? I would appreciate any insights.

Rick
I have a bit of JDSU and just obtained a bit more hungry cash looking for a home.

Nuncle, I continue to think you are confusing questions a bit. You write, "I've contended [timing] isn't very important to Gorilla gaming," and cite as proof the fact that all your QCOM investments have prospered. Well, yes, but some have clearly prospered more than others. The difference between a 191% return and a 16% return is HARDLY insignificant, and will INCREASE rather than DIMINISH over time for reasons that I pointed out in my longish screed the other day (basically, more shares for the same money).

The basic, lasting truth you point out is that "Q was strong enough to make my poor timing irrelevant." This is indeed why it remains a good investment for latecomers, and why Merlin's comment that he doesn't pay attention to what stock HAS DONE (only, presumably, what he thinks it WILL DO) is correct.

But just because Gorillas are strong enough to reward even those with poor timing does not mean that they won't reward those with good timing far more. So I persist in my belief that intelligent discussions of timing (as in, "Quick, mortgage your house, GMST's dropped from 88 to 66 as its longterm value has increased!") are worthwhile.

PS if someone could tell me how to bold or italicize words I could stop SHOUTING...

here is the timing of my Q purchases:

Frank,

Some years ago I read "The Agony and the Ecstasy" and also saw the movie - wherein Charlton Heston plays Michelangelo. One of my favorite scenes is the one where the Pope first sees the Sistine Chapel ceiling. Here Michelangelo has created one of the world's greatest works of art, but that does not stop the pope from critiquing it and suggesting some "improvements" with insightful comments such as "put pants on that guy."

With that in mind, and in the spirit of having a little fun this weekend I thought I might offer a comment on the timing of your Q purchases which you posted here. The first comment is that all 7 purchases made money - which is more than I can say for my own last 7.

Before making what might approach being a useful comment I wanted to make sure it would be OK with you. (I have a silly idea that might benefit us all.) If it is OK perhaps you will help me by reviewing the purchase you recorded on 8/31. You indicate a price of $176 but my chart shows the price range on that day of $182-193. If you give me the correction on that purchase I can complete my ten cent analysis and present it here.

Thanks, Uncle
