Hal,

Now it is a lot less confusing and much easier.
Personally, I see no reason why an individual with a well margined account could not purchase a long contract and hold it for a few weeks and continue to then trade short contracts separate of that one long position. Makes sense to me.

Since this method is not legal...my whole trading system is now a lot less difficult to manage. I will either be long and adding or short and adding or Flat. Great!

As far as a check book example........if I had $250,000 in an account, purchased an Austin Martin and waited 2 months to sell at a higher price.....I still ought to be able to buy a showroom new Ford and watch the value decline.
