Intel to acquire DSP Communications.

1: they gotta renegotiate the Q contract.

2: they gotta pay royalties

I don't see any bad news there. A lotta people, (including some on these boards) don't seem to understand the royalty situation.

<<Not even as a royalty paying "competitor"?>>

My thought, exactly; which might only go to show my limited knowledge of what the Intel acquisition of DSP means. Will someone please elaborate on the basic pro's and con's? Isn't the spreading of the CDMA *message* always beneficial to Qcom?

INTC may not a competitor in the traditional sense of the word. The vision of Wireless Knowledge encompasses the wireless connection of mobile phones, PC's, cable TV, and every device that touches the internet. When you realize the trends in wireless communications, it is going to evolve into a seamless environment between all devices. Didn't the CEO of IBM just say the era of PC computing has ended and we are entering the era of network computing.

CDMA wireless is going to be a last mile solution in every component of the network computing environment. It is the only way for devices to maintain a direct digital connection to the Internet.

I believe that QCOM and CDMA cannot make this vision a reality until companies like INTC and MSFT enter the CDMA camp. How could QCOM possibly be viewed as the best long term investment in the world unless they are doing business with the top computer and software companies in the world?

Today is a monumental moment for CDMA. It is a joke that people are selling their stock on this news!!
