Gary, sorry for not making myself clearer. That was in respond to your question about my saying "coms was started out as a nic company" - which you didn't agree. That piece of description clearly stated that coms started out as a 'discrete products' seller which means Netswork interface cards. I am sure coms made other products in its early days too but nics was by far its major products for a long time. I think coms was even a computer maker at one time - that's why the name Three Com - "computer, communication and compatibility". Eric took over 3com, disbanded some divisions, bought some companies and turned it around.

Now an easy question, why is Cisco called Cisco ?

Thread,

I know I'm sure to get my a$$ handed to me for this but I am again attempting to make us all smarter.... I know for some that is hard to believe. Anyway, I asked the question regarding wireless on the LU thread and got this ressponse.

I know there are no specific mentions of the gateways but it is interesting to see that COMS isn't there. The question I have is is this because the market is so new and so small that it doesn't register yet or that CDMA hasnt' taken off yet or ...well or something else? And with 3G, will carriers install CDMA or simply wait? I noticed comments from T that they would not go CDMA - ever. Does that mean they'll go straight to 3G?
