<Something just doesn't jive about the time frames at Dresden. >

Yes, I agree. If my memory serves me right, Jerry reported during Q2 cc that Athlon sample wafer starts started by that time. I asked the process guys on the day of the Q2 and Q3 conf calls why it would take AMD till Q2 to go to production. PB and TWY responded with some thoughts but at this point it is hard to tell what is going on.

My experience suggest that with the sample start schedule noted publicly, production should be in Q1 - which means that production wafer starts should be beginning about now. On the otherhand, Q2 production suggests production wafer starts in Q1 - possible because of contamination or some other problems that take a long time to work out.

RE <<<During the Q399 Conference Call, Jerry Sanders, at 35 minutes into the
call, issued the following comments in answering a question from an
analyst:

"Dresden won't be coming on as a production facility until the second
quarter of next year. So Dresden is not expected to add material revenues
to our business until the second half of next year, with INITIAL
PRODUCTION in the SECOND QUARTER. ">>>>

It is correct that Sanders said that; however it is becoming increasingly clear that for legal reasons, Sanders understated everything he said during the call AND AT THE END OF THE CALL HE TOLD US THAT HE WAS DOING THAT FOR LEGAL REASONS.

Therefore when he talks about Q2 production at Dresden, I believe that to be the worst case scenario....that there is a good chance it will come online sooner. And should anyone underestimate this disclosure/legality issue, let me just say that I would not want to be the ceo of ANF right now nor an investor since in the stock price has dropped from 38 to 24 in the past week.

Of course the whole issue is moot since Dresden is not needed right now and for the forseeable future.
