How did you figure out how to detach the Quick Launch bar? Was it just by accident -- I don't see it mentioned in Windows Help.

Anyway, thanks -- it's been a little troublesome.

I use auto-hide and put my taskbar on the left side. Main advantage is being able to read more of the text on the buttons for each running program, and a more orderly arrangement of them.

When I first install Windows it puts the Quick Launch bar alongside (attached) the main task bar. This is OK, but cuts off the titles. Then if I get rid of the QL bar and add it again it puts it below the regular task bar which I guess I prefer. But now that I know how to move the thing around I find I can put it on the right, left, above or below the regular task bar. Now I don't feel like such a victim.

BTW Two of my favorite improvements in w98 are the QL bar and the "Show Desktop" feature.
