Thanks for the warning. Not gone out yet. Still peering off my balcony, looking for signs of trouble. <gg>

<< They have to change out some
seals and if they are ready by 1:00 they'll perf today. Otherwise, they MUST delay until
daylight tomorrow.>>

I can see that "daylight" bit. They had a few pile ups on the interstate during the blowout.... people ogling the fire instead of watching where they're going. We wouldn't want that again.

Ciao!

GH...
When they perf the well is the preasure of 15,400LBS already in the well boar? That is to say, they set of charges to crack casing and let the gas flow?
Would they first preasurize the hole so you don't get 15,400 coming at you all at once!
What is the Machanics of this job?

Good Morning GH!

It sounds about right for them to have to change seals. Right before any of these operations they pressure test everything just prior to use.

I did some quick calculations last night and figured during the flare test they will be burning gas at the rate of 463 cu/ft/min. That sounds like a lot of gas to me. It should be in California speak "awesome dude"! The flare stack is about 1/2 the height of the rig, (80'/170') and I fully expect the flame to reach higher than the top of the rig.

The tubing has zinc bromide that was circulated in last Monday. I was thinking they would perf and just hold the gas and pressure in and then start flaring at a later time. Is that your understanding or do you expect a flare right away?

Standing by in beautiful Lost Hills,
LHG
