<<Supposedly Ancor switches "mesh" together better than anyone else's (read Brocade's).>>

It is the fact, not just supposedly.

<<"Multi-staged (Ancor exclusive: Highest performance, lowest cost-per-gigabit, highest resiliency, ideal for larger installations and/or tape drives)">>

That's right. I am glad you noticed. For a company which claims to have 80% of the FC switch market share, why pay attentions to such minor details and went to such great length to pay for a test of your best against an old generation product. And, the test did not even include switch throughput. Wouldn't it be ironic Brocade's best switch would lose to Ancor's old switch in throughput performance?????
Unthinkable.

Or may be SUN, MTIC, ADIC, Thomson chose Ancor because of their inferior Sanbox. Right, yeah, ok.

Is it true that Greg Reyes just register to sell more shares? How's the moral of Brocade's employees lately? Tell them Ancor is hiring a few more good people.

Hey "FC", humor me.This is a stock / financial forum, not a technical discussion board, correct? As an "objective" and "casual" observer and an intelligent/knowledgeable Industry insider, do you believe that BRCD's current market valuation in excess of $7 BILLION is justified and what metric are you using? What is your price target on BRCD for the next 3-6 months? Thanks for your objective and valued opinion.

FC Fan, Thanks for your point of view. Well stated. Warning: On SI threads anyone with an unpopular point of view gets hammered, usually till they stop posting. Do not take this BS too seriously. FYI, I am long Ancor, but try to be objective about my investments. wj

FC Fan

I, like yourself, should never post in public archives

However, I don't care about losing my job, or being sued, because I own ANCR, and walk a straight line as they do (having no inside)

Seeing that your long ass post of desperately spilling your guts was late on a school night, I'll take it that you were drunk and stupid;
hey bud, let it all out next time

good luck to ya

FC FAN,

Your post makes too much sense. I don't think emotionally charged ANCR longs can appreciate it. It's a good thing you didn't post over on their thread. I got booted out two years ago. Even then('97) it was painfully obvious that technological superiority resides here in California, not Minnesota. This "gut feeling" of mine has only been made manifest by the warm welcome Brocade has received on Wall Street. The Keylabs test gets questioned because Brocade helped finance it? This just shows their commitment to furthering education about this technology. For years they have pioneered fibre channel technology. Why would anyone expect that to change. Why doesn't Ancor "pay" for tests that would show their product's superiority?

I only wonder why ANCR investors aren't cheering Brocade. After all, if it weren't for their going public, ANCR would still be languishing at around $8-$12. Oh well, so much for appreciation.

I still think there is more than enough business to go around. It still is fun to see Brocade backers come through with logical dialogue only to be responded to with unwarranted jabs and cynicism.

But let's examine ourselves honestly. Assuming we had the opportunity, who of us would prefer working for Ancor over Brocade? I know that probably isn't the criteria to use to make investment decisions, but it would be interesting to get everyone's honest answer.

Anyway, I think I'll retire back in the basement again and watch this from the sideline.

Fred

FC Fan: Greatly appreciate your posts and find them to be highly informative--helps with the DD and cuts through some of the less-qualified opinions held by both ANCR and BRCD shareholders. And balances some of the fanaticism that's out there, too.

Disclosure: Long neither ANCR nor BRCD.

FC Fan, thanks for your detailed response, but now I am seeking further information.

Today we see a press release from Brocade, and a separate press release from Ancor, together with an update of the Ancor Website. Has your opinion regarding Ancor's product changed in any way in response to the information concerning Ancor's new switch products?

More importantly, what do you see as the product roadmap for these companies in the next 12-18 months?

In which part of the market will Brocade excel? In which part of the market will Ancor excel? Who else will be a significant SAN market participant at the switch level?

Thanks

Pat
