Have her check her figures. You will find that the reason for the crime-minority correlation was that there were fewer conservatives in the good old days in the 60's. No one who makes a living analyzing social developments believes that correlation equals causation.

MikeH, perhaps your wife could do another study - one that compares the 30s with the 60s would be of interest, and might give you a different view.

Mike,and there were fewer poor people because more people worked hard and steadily instead of laying back in the lap of the government dole. There are jobs galore to be had out there, but too may would prefer welfare to effort. TD
