Mindmeld, <What I am against is a company driving the market to a better standard and then screwing up the execution.>

No offense, but I just have one word: "Duh!"

The fact that you repeat your statements, does not make them true. GSM was a government adopted standard in Europe. It had tremendous momentum, state sponsorship, and oligopoly support among the large infrastructure manufacturers. Yet, ultimately, it has lost to CDMA. Why? Because CDMA proved superior.

Similarly, despite all of its flaws Windows was an innovative operating system that prevailed largely because, to paraphrase Churchill, it was the worst possible system, except all other system. However, Windows too will be displaced - this time by the Web itself. It is true that big money can influence the technological roadmap. Ultimately, however, the products live and die on their merits.

RMBS, too, will be judged this way. The backing of INTC cannot empirically be said to have hurt RMBS.
