Poor products and or poor Marketing/sales. If it is a combo what percentage would each be responsible for.?

Doug, the 36170 is a dated switch at this point. Certainly in the US, where things are moving a breakneck speed, lack of a core solution, eliminates them from consideration in many cases, IMO. No evidence to really back this up, but its a logical conclusion.

If they can deliver the 50G on time (not a certainty yet), and truly demonstrate this 450G monster in the next year, they could become an attractive takeover candidate. As it stands, with a 12G and 50G switch, its hard to see them garnering any "new" major wins away from LU/ASND in the US. The story is just not that compelling.

Doug: There's a myriad of problems with NN at the moment. Lower revenues and earnings is only part of the problem, there is also the upcoming LU patent infringement trial which could go against NN, the STII deal is looking very shaky, management turmoil, competition that is aggressively taking market share in newer products and older products which are declining in value.

They don't have enough time to turn things around and NO ONE will buy them at this price. Why would anyone buy them out? Only diehards and analysts still believe in the buyout scenario.

By the way Peppe, I never said "I told you so". Where did you get that? It's not my style. I'm having a discussion with Doug about the company's prospects. Afterall, most posters here have been ignoring my posts for a long time, which is fine, so nothing was directed at them.

Best of luck to all.
