Kemble,
Cheating off the smart guys, I put together a DELL analysis page on my web site. Take a look and give me some feedback.

3dconnections.com

I wanted to present the case for buying and holding DELL stock both for the short term and for the long term.

I don't think I went far enough in presenting the long term case yet.

Craig

Hi Kemble and thread,

I am back after a well-needed rest from SI. Here are my thoughts (such as they are) concerning Dell.

We are seeing mounting evidence that Dell is dominating the PC market. The decision by IBM to quit selling Aptiva through channels and the news concerning Packard-Bell prove that Dell's business model is dominating the market.

But, let's not get too euphoric. Dell's model is vulnerable to component price increases. Some of the old-timers on this thread may recall that I argued that component price drops along with decreasing ASP were positives for Dell because of its tight inventory management. But the converse is also true because Dell lacks the safety stocks of some competitors. As a result, I expect some earnings pressure over the next quarter, but that should resolve itself as prices stabilize.

I'll post more on this later -- I am losing electricity because of repair work.

TTFN,
CTC
