Dan Quayle is a product .
That's why he is not running now and he won't be in 2008.

You're falling back into the old paradigm thinking. If Dan pays, that doesn't mean he will get his message out, because people control what message they get. We have to forget BB (broadcast brainwashing). That technique has had it. Actually it had had it long ago. It is held that BB is very successful, but the diminishing returns coming from it puts this claim in question. The returns drop off the cliff when trying to convey a message through the computer.

The challenge in the future is to figure out how to position yourself to utilize elective advertising. You can't control bringing them in and so you have to assume they come in by their own choice or you find another way to accomplish that end. On that assumption you then have to be effective because you know you share the ad space. There's no where to hide as there is in brainwash. You have to be good at presenting and selling. You have to hire companies which are good at assembling multimedia ads within certain constraints.

Consider CNET. This is an primitive example. It's primitive because it's text based only and rectilinear. The text can be hyperlink available on mouse over and the computers can be shown with multimedia . Consider presenting a Compaq or Dell computer by having someone video demo it, by animation, or by a combination of the two. When I have a visual idea of what I'm buying I'm much more amenable to the idea of buying over the Net. The idea is to use the power of BB:cable to give competitive dimension to your product.

Jay- How about campaign reforms by the public not the government. Do such a good job with a web site that states, non-biased and factual, all candidates platforms, voting history, attendance history, affiliations with special interest, etc., etc. that anyone wanting the info clicks and has all the reference material they could need. And why not layer it? From the simple 'big points' down to the minutia if you want it. Then perhaps have links off this to the candidates specific paid site ads.
Just thinking aloud..

And the public service groups like Red Cross, have a small box area or such with a local or national need for blood, food, clothes, disaster relief, etc. and let it have a small piece of front window real-estate. Heck our charity consciousness is still a hallmark of American culture. Then when you click this site it transports you to groups and similarly gives you access to legitimacy of need, how many dollars go to the cause vs. overhead, etc., etc. A real service, not hype.

Think about the possible good will this could bring the BB portal willing to maintain the site link or space.
