Hello Paul,

I'm curious, from your perspective, what are the potential reasons why Novell is seeming to have such a problem attracting marketing talent?

It appears (and I believe) that the company is filled with sound technology, and a good set of products. They have a very capable development staff ...

I guess that what I can't figure out, is why a competent marketing person would not see the opportunity to join now, get a good bunch of cheap stock options, and make a bundle by wrapping a decent marketing pitch (with vision!) around products that can sell themselves?

Not fully understanding the dynamics of executive search and recruitement, is the market just that thin? Does Novell look that unattractive? I'm trying to evaluate how Novell pulls this out ...

Hey Paul...some things never change I guess<g>. Seems that marketing problems and Novell's stealth mode approach to just about everything goes back to the Joe Antol days (ever hear from Joe?) and the Novell investors white paper. Is John Young still kingpin on the board?

I think it be's time to sell this company yet I don't seem to find much talk on the subject. Sorry if I've missed conversation on the subject, but what about SUNW?

Regards and good luck,

sf

<<<Either Schmidt is a leader or he isn't. A good leader looks at what can be done and what can't be done. If the can'ts are too great to overcome then by all means SELL THE COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>>>

Paul,

Consumer products notwithstanding, I think that if we continue to see a divergence in the market caps of NOVL and LU, LU is going to make a play for NOVL next year. NOVL has so much potential, and if they continue to get relatively cheaper, it would be a no-brainer. Eric Schmidt must be aware of this.

If you've watched LU, they are weaving a very crafty strategy regarding network infrastructure, they have taken a large position in network consulting, they USE NDS, and they absolutely execute on product development, albeit not so much in the consumer market (yet). Also, John Young sits on the LU BOD.

Marketing ? Not bad for a "carrier company" - "We make the things that make communications work".

They offered me stock for my ASND, I took it, and haven't regretted it.
