<<WINd's stock price, on a percentage basis, will out perform that of Gemstar's, Qualcomm's and Microsoft's in the next 12 months.>> WOW Karim that is a guttsy prediction.

I'm going to keep my small position on your prediction.

I do feel that M$FT FUD has lifted and the DOJ has curtailed them.

My thought is that demand for embedded software will ramp up so fast that Wind Rivers development tools and consulting will be in high demand.

I'm in at winds bottom, but I REALLY doubt its going to smoke my G&K's.

Enjoy
Doug

Karim, I'm afraid you miss the point behind our strict selection process, and your comments about Qualcomm in 1997 confirm that contention. 1997 was far too early to own Q for Gorilla gamers. It wasn't until they were confirmed on 3/25/99 that they even appeared on our radar screen as having a chance to join the elite.

From what I've read about WIND, they have a very good chance of becoming a prosperous Chimp. This type of investment can make you a lot of money, as the fm points out, but it never comes close to approaching the low risk/reward ratio of a Gorilla investment. Why would you advocate we assume any risk when we have so many wonderful Gorillas to choose from?

I like the way you speak. Not afraid to stand up for what you think. I have noted your prediction, agree to your starting date/prices, and will review them October 17, 2000.
May they ALL be UP big time.

William

Karim:

Since the final arbiter of a company's performance is what Mr./Ms. Market is willing to pay for it's shares, I will, at the risk of being labelled a heretic and relegated to the cold dungeons of this thread, make a prediction:

WINd's stock price, on a percentage basis, will out perform that of Gemstar's, Qualcomm's and Microsoft's in the next 12 months. (For the purpose of calculation, I will use the closing prices of the above mentioned stocks on October 17th., the day I first requested that WINd be included on this thread's list of potential gorillas.)

bold move.......I like it. This obligates you to becoming the thread WIND siren, and keeping us advised over the next 12 months about the ups and downs.

>>WIND's stock price, on a percentage basis, will out perform that of Gemstar's, Qualcomm's and Microsoft's in the next 12 months.<<

Karim, looks like GMST is the one to beat for your prediction. The percentage changes since October 15 are:

GMST +105.80%*
MSFT -19.16%
QCOM +18.22%
WIND +104.81%

*Oops! After my initial post I had to correct GMST for the split in November 1999.

Yesterday it was announced that Sony will use WIND's VxWorks operating system in the Network Walkman, and that WIND will be added to the S&P400 Mid-Cap Index.

I'm feeling better about WIND after these developments, but I'm still not sure if we have a gorilla or a "bowling alley forever" stock...
