the only thing that intimidates me about women in my bathroom is the danger that if I go ahead and use the bathroom I will get charged with sexual harassment. Actually, if we just pass the equal rights amendment we can get rid of all these unisex bathrooms. Heck, we got rid of Black and White bathroom signs in the 60s. Why are Mens and Womens bathroom signs still hanging around?

And don't tell me it's social. If you had asked a member of the Citizens Committee in 1964 whether he would rather have women or blacks in his public bathroom, he would have said women in a heartbeat. Yet we overcame that prejudice.

On the subject of men and women and bathrooms.

A long time ago I read about a case in which an armed man entered a business establishment and robbed the place, and in the course of the robbery executed some employees, presumably so that there would be no witnesses to the crime.

I think of this particular horrible crime quite often, because of this striking fact: One employee, a woman, survived the crime; and she survived because when the shooting began, she ran away-- into the ladies room. The gunman pursued her, but when he arrived at the door saying "Ladies," he simply turned and left, stymied.

<<It's the one thing that seems to really intimidate men--- the sight of women in their bathrooms. >>

So if a guy walked into a womens bathroom and pulled out the salami no woman would be offended?

Yeah. We can't pee with you hanging around. We could all die from urine poisoning.

One of the real pleasures of Bangkok in old days was the female bathroom attendants in the better men's rooms. On a good day one could relieve himself, wash his hands, be sprayed with jasmine water, get complemented on the package for a 2 baht tip.
