Very safe ... can't speak for Guatemala directly, but i hear it's quite safe, and Chiapas specifically and México in general are very safe for tourists. Just get a cheap airfare to one of the gringolandias like Cabo or Cancún or Baias de Huatulco [puke] and don't even spend the night - get on a bus and go elsewhere. Strive to be the only gringo in town, you'll live better and learn more. The bus system is excellent and cheap. Everybody has a favourite state of México, mine is Chiapas. I grind on about this stuff on this thread - Subject 23875

"eclectic" - yes, rofl ... but you know, less and less do i feel compelled to trade constantly ... after a crazy period about two to two and a half years ago after getting this, my first and so far only computer .... Green Line misses that period -g- .... cheers
