The Loral conference call back a month ago was the source of the Data over G* possibility. I realize that Skybridge is their data initiative. When I called investor relations they suggested that something was in the works but no announcements were imminent. Perhaps it was misguidance. I will see what I can find out. Finally, even email and fax will go a long way in many parts of the LDCs.

Thank You for the reply.

Steve

It may be used as a data return path for Cyberstar. But that would coincide with the progression transmission rates you suggested and a deployment 2001.

Maurice are you sure about the bandwidth limits of Globalstar?
The HDR runs 2.4Mbits in a 1.25MHZ space but Globalstar
has 14.76MHZ to play with in a shared spectrum according to
the specifications on the Qualcomm page, qualcomm.com

If Qualcomm can implement HDR or the GSM equivalent
GPRS on to of G* I can not see why the 9,6k limit
should exist.

Both HDR and GPRS are packet switched solutions (IP)
when standard data is circuit switched.

I enjoy reading your posts, this is indeed one of the most
interesting companies on the market.

Maurice, I almost hate to ask but is there a "latest" target date from management as to full deployment of the satellites and full/partial service implementation?

As a follow-up to my recent post regarding a friend of mine who bought an Iridium to take on a business junket to the jungles of Columbia, got another call from her today on the Iridium. Said several of the other businessmen she's with so impressed (and jealous)with her ability to communicate from "out in nowhere" that they called Motorola on her Iridium and having sets delivered to them in South America. Satellite service of this nature obviously sells itself when individuals in need of same are exposed to it. And businessmen and women who need it don't mind the price...price is not the issue. Communications access is. Of course, I know I'm preaching to the choir.
