what will happen to the server/disks they were using?

They will go on the secondhand market as obselete and sell for pennies! The new companies will buy new boxes because the standards advance so quickly.

you're hilarious. my point was that each company is responsible for contracting with exds for their own needs. so the successful ones are taking care of their own needs irrespective of the failing companies. that's where the glut comes from.
