LRR,

In my opinion if they increase the font size (the same as in the Old SI - not the message font) unicus.com change the font colors, have a stock quote box in the portfolio section, set up edit profile so you can view your profile without finding your name under "people" then clicking on it, and moving the "edit your message" to the right, and a few more minor tweaks, it will work just fine.

I have been using the Classic Option since we all got the PM a couple days ago. I like it, except we need those minor tweaks. (Basically closer look to the Old SI)

I was a classic guardian member as well, and contributed these screen shots:
unicus.com

So people don't go beating me up. We all knew the Old SI was toast, and if we didn't complain like we all did, we would not have the *classic option*.

This was the finial submission:
unicus.com
It included the new stock info at the bottom.

BTW
I totally hate the New SI, but with Classic Option enabled, I like it.

LRR,

You haven't come right out and said it, but you are essentially calling me a liar. You are, of course, entitled to your opinion.

In fact, I will admit that our original intention was to turn off the old SI, right after we launched the new version. Looking back, my life probably would have been a lot easier if we had done just that. :) (Of course, I would have been called a lot of other names if we had. <g>)

But, the impassioned pleas by you, and a handful of other loyal members, caused us to put on our creative thinking caps, and we came up with this Classic SI Customization Option - which I said from the start would not/could not be an exact match to the old SI. In fact, you can check out my original two posts on the subject...

Message 10900124

In short, I have never lied, nor will I ever lie to the SI Community (or anywhere else for that matter). Lying to people is not only wrong - it's stupid. Of course, some of you out there think I'm stupid too - :). But stupid enough to lie? I don't think so.

In any case, I am sorry that you were disappointed with the process. I am even sorrier that you believe our intentions were insincere.

Those members who like the Class SI Customization Option have you, and a handful of others to thank for it.

I hope you'll continue to be a part of SI - and that's the truth.

Bryan

I think you might be attributing to malice what is probably due to…er, however the rest of that goes.

Here's what I think:

Somewhere at GNET is a pointy-haired Dilbert boss.

He's wearing khakis and a polo shirt, but the brain is the same. He thinks that using arial fonts at all times, and a consistent sludge color scheme is "critical to segmenting our brand identity going forward" or some crap like that.

And there's no-one there with the balls to stand up and say, "Hey, can't you see that the dreary blue bar on top of every page weighs down like a big sad Seattle raincloud? Did it occur to you that the button your customers hit the most is "Next"? So why put it 4 pixels away from the "Remove subject mark" function?"

And so on and so forth. The simple stuff that a child could see at once, but adults with a multi-million net worth are apparently blind to.
