Dear Haqi,
Unfortunately the leaders of the Church today have become like the Pharisees were. It is a people thing and not a National thing.Jesus said I lay down my life as a ransom for many No Man takes my life. We all should rejoice that He gave himself as a perfect offering. There are many ways they make excuses for their hatred of Jews but the bottom line is it is from satan. There is no point in my posting because their hate and anger is growing the more I talk about the love of God. Maybe it is conviction.
1 Corinthians 13
1: Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2: And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
Without the love of Jesus we are nothing,
Nancy

haqihana, Christianity is not some sort of "extension' as you put it. You say you want to be fair so why do you make it seem like only the few elite Jews in power were the ones who plotted Jesus death. Why do so many prefer to forget that it was the entire nation that refused him. Go beyond that, it was the entire world.

If the Jewish people really wanted Jesus then on the day of Pentecost the entire city had their chance to turn their hearts over to Him. Did they...well did they? I read that there were twelve apostles, all of whom were filled with the Holy Spirit. They had manifestations of the gifts, they had been witnesses of the resurrection and had great boldness to preach. So why were so few saved if it was just the leadership that wanted Jesus out of the way?

You say all of christianity is not a Roman religion but that is going only half. I will tell you the truth...None of Christianity is of a Roman religion.

Sop trying to discourage the men you hate and trying to please those your trying to win over. Just preach the gospel in truth and simplicity and you will not work yourself into a rut.

Don't be so hostile against me because I am not your enemy.

Chris

haqi, I'm posting to you because I know that you are a friend. And I know that you will understand what I'm saying in the spirit that it is shared.

Shepherds enjoyed a great heritage in Israel with Abraham, Moses, and David as notable shepherds and God being identified through Psalm 23 as a great shepherd. But by this time in
Israelite history, they were not highly regarded. They smelled like sheep. They spent their time with sheep. They were not really clean and religious enough to be considered spiritual. So when God chose to announce the birth of Jesus to shepherds with his contingent of angels he makes his point clear:

Everyone is loved by God, everyone has access to God, and everyone is desired by God.
