<<<the trades make big dough>>> Yes. And precisely for that reason there has to be an incentive to study Ike. Right now I make a good amount of money staying home. Is there any reason why I should work for a living ? Coz I'll have to put my kids in daycare, buy a new car, eat out every day, have more housecleaning services - I figure I'd earn substantially less than what I earn now...with all the hassles too...so any govt has to reward people enough in work or penalise them for not working... The govt has to *work* towards creation of an environment it hopes to achieve. The policies, the environment should be conducive to motivate me enough...Are you saying all of Australia should abandon education and go on welfare ??? Or become tradesmen ? Are you saying education is not mandatory for any country...but if it doesn't pay well, then why would anyone study ???? Harvard and Stanford are sought after because of the fact that most graduates are set for life.... <<<he had an accident at work>>> That could happen to anyone - tradesman or no. My eyesight could fail from looking at computers all day - no ? <<<the minimum wage and 'underclass' crowd gotta live too>>> Yes, but they have recently unveiled "work for Dole" program in Australia. In essence it says you have to do community work for the dole. You should see the response it gets. The govt is being called cruel, callous and uncaring !! People were so used to recievingthe paychecks sitting home !!!! or at the beach...! There doesn't *have* to be a free ride..! I guess we're both talking about the two extremes...and there should be a middle ground.. <<<Are these leeches really any different than the beach bum who says, screw it, i'll just get the government to send me the cheque>>> No, what is the percentage of those leaches ? Not 99% of America ! And at least they are have a job. Its never perfect Ike....but when 99% of them are uneducated leeches, most just *do* not want to work, and *they* vote for the govt, and hard working people like me leave the country....its time to take stock..... <<<i know australia's immigration policy is racist>>> Oh I lived with rascism in Dubai. At least they were upfront about it. Its not racism. Do you know that women at the managerial level - I'm not even talking being at the top - can be counted on fingertips. Do you know most companies ask women to leave when they become pregnant ? Do you know that most managers and executive management is over 50 and all ranks close against you if you are younger than 45 ? Any idea why it should be so ??? Its not rascism. Its the lack of education...and despite that, they cut the university fundings to bare bones last year...! Pauline Hanson, with her stupid electoral pledge of kicking out all Asian immigrants, cutting out welfare for unwed mothers and single mothers - got 25% votes in Queensland in 98. Can you believe it in this day and age and considering the fact that Asians form a backbone of the Australian economy and single parents is a large percentage of families...! This is not rascism. This is lack of education and understanding of basic economics......and this is the result of having the likes of my neighbor vote for the govt... You are blessed that you live in this country...where academia, industry and politics meets to implement the workable laws, where the laws are not crafted by some high school dropout !!!
