There seemed to be 245 unread (by me)messages on the the thread, so excuse if someone has pointed this out, but would you look at what these fools have done in the name of protecting us from a Y2K bank panic?

Look at the percentage increases leading into December. They are higher than a year before. Generally governments only allow this kind of money supply explosion when they are tottering politically or in a war of very doubtful outcome. To do this in peacetime and during political stability is incredible.

Tsk. tsk., Earlie. It seems that you haven't taken the basic lesson in International Trade in good spirits.

I wonder how long people are going to invoke the spectre of foreigners bailing out of the US market causing a collapse. Ever given any thought to the reality that the US Dollar is a substitute for the gold standard in several economies? The Euro, that great soon-to-be-dollar-menace, has fizzled while you were sleeping. And nobody seems to talk about the Yen rally any more? <VBG>

I advice that you stick to semiconductors, Earlie. That way, you do not have to research the state of the world economies. There is a reason why they invest in the US, because on a comparative scale the US is doing much better, but ignorance is so blissful!
