what amazes me is that in Ian's absence, there has been little dialogue about the company itself and its future plans; John speculated that the stock issuance was related to an acquisition; no one has answered! How many of us have listened to the conf call? I am sure that Ian resents spoonfeeding; so unless there is something of substance to discuss, then I doubt he will be back! For myself, I did listen to the conference call; it was my impression that the new capital to be raised was for spending or r&d and buying stock for new options for all the new employess. Brad did say that he spends about 20% of his working time on MandA but this was not clear as to what he meant. What was most impressive to me was that cvd was going well and that, I believe that there are 25 cvd systems out there and 20 are in use; the throughput on these machines is 180wafer/hr. Looking on the novellus web site, it looks like 110 wafers /hr for pecvd; But I may not be comparing apples to apples. This sound like the beginnig of a major achievement to me; but I must defer to those who know more- The plan as I recall is to have 50% of all revenue be from non strip sources and rtp has been a dissapointment in that its mechasism of action is so unlike other rtp systems that its a harder sell ; BraD stated that a whole new dedicated sales force has been set up for Rtp to address this issue( he actually made the comment that salesmen sell the easiest products, so rtp has been has been left behind) My impression is that mattson has its plate full and I would doubt an acquistion is in the offing unless they could afford to buy Lam, etc<G> To me me the future looks bright and with alot of their customers in the pacific rim, I would expect more cvd sales soon ; Brad was asked if there were new customers and replied that there was one new 300 Cvd customer from the top global 15 customers; I had thoght that hitachi , tsmc, Umc ,infineon already had cvd and he mentioned other customers in general as Intel, TI, Phillips in epi ,but maybe one of the asian fabs ordered this new cvd system and I am confused about this. I was hoping it would be some one like ti-- Well. thats my contribution; all those who actually listened to the call and did their homework raise your hands and send answers! All those with spoons in their mouths (or elsewhere) get them out and get to work! This is the only way to get a thoughtful discussion going again--and have the quality thread that existed before. steve
