Intel said when they intro'd the 800 4 weeks ago that supplies would be tight for the first part of the quarter.

We would be remise if we did not also point out the Gateway (and maybe others) complained about not getting enough processors at the 500mhz level. If you look at 500 mhz processor prices you will see that prices (retail) have trended up over the past two months. So maybe the shortages (or yield problems) aren't just at the high mhz levels.
