Recently, Intel has annouced new fabs for $1.5B and $2.0B.
Does anyone has a very good understanding of how that $2.0B will be spent? %land,%building,%equipment,etc.....

This nonsense about geometries going backwards has been heard before. DUV is here now and growing so fast that prices for lasers are ratcheting upwards - along with CYMI revenues and profits.

Per Akins at the CC:

As demand for functionality expands, and geometries continue to shrink, progressively more layers in such advanced chips will utilize DUV. Many chipmakers, especially foundries, have already announced substantial increases in their capital equipment plans for the year 2000. Along with these trends, we have also seen the continued rise in factory and DUV tool utilization. Remember, DUV utilization has increased from a low of 20-25% in late 1998 to now approaching 100% in many factories, as demand for sub-quarter micron patterning has surged . And as a result, a clear lack of capacity for patterning at 0.18micron and below has developed.

Read it and weep Mr. MILLION shares short. Try dialing up the market today to get out of that position and see what happens to the market price as even so much as a few thousand shares are bought. EPS this year are already at a $1.85 annualized run rate (assuming flat growth from here - not a likely assumption). By next quarter that run rate will approach $2.25 for this year. That will put next year's earnings per share at $3.00 to $3.50 with 2002 at $4.00 to $4.50 and that's just where we'll be next quarter! Do the math. We base here - then a big buy on a breakout at $67 on volume with a quick run to $100.

Good Luck To Each And All
