Aloha,

This is just typical Farrell to manage expectations down. I think he also wants to try to disrupt the run-up prior to earnings and sell-off afterwards.

That may be why he gives this information out now rather than during earnings CC. He may want to discuss more positive things at the CC.

Also looks to me like he may have capitulated to the shorts. Perhaps they arrived at a "gentlemen's agreement".
Provide an opportunity to cover and they will. Maybe not, but it is my type of conspiracy theory.

I think you're right, the door may have been opened to legal troubles. That's all THQ needs now, bad press. Someone's bright idea to have a little conference has created a little crisis. They are getting paid to manage. I hope they manage this thing quick. Investors need more info, now.

Sig, I agree, too, that this is typical BF, but his methods just don't inspire confidence-- I mean with the ones who are doing the analyzing.

Mr. Aloha, I respectfully but firmly disagree (re lawsuit problems.)

Nothing that THQI has even been reputed to say, to the analysts or anyone else, contradicts either the letter or the spirit of its January 7th PR. And I've no reason to doubt any of it.

The fact that for one quarter, we MIGHT not have positive earnings comparisons for a particular, identified reason (last burst of WCW shipments interrupting more typical seasonality) is not a reason to suspect we were misled.

As far as I can tell, this stock has been pounded for some very particular reasons. Especially,

-Industry concerns, with platform transition worries and bigger players not making their numbers

-Big short players, some no doubt short since WCW license loss, who have sucessfully spread FUD far and wide

-Compounding TA problems: margin calls get issued, institutions bail as 200 DMA is breeched and long-term trend lines are crossed, etc.

From where I sit, the fundamentals on this company look more impressive than they did when it was trading at twice this price. We will be beating analyst expectations and continuing annual growth rates even at a time where other companies with lower growth rates and higher PEs are failing to meet expectations. And we are VERY well positioned for the platform transition to come, with Smackdown running on the PS2, GBC as an added cash-cow, proven white-hot WWF franchise moving to on-line, etc. etc.

I would very sincerely appreciate a solid refutation of any of these claims from any shorts or bears out there. As I said before, this board could use some shorts who can do more than name-call.
