GREAT charts John. Gonna be a heck of a nasdog race ... does the 200 catch the index, vice-versa, or where in between? ... one thing we know for sure ... the dog will catch the rabbit in this race ... wish I knew which was the rabbit and which was the dog :o)

Interesting chart -- thanks for posting it

What is also worth noting is that when we had a marked divergence similar to the current one in the early part of 1999, the process of correcting the excess was a gradual one that took a while, with higher levels on the index occurring in the mean time. This is not surprising since moves that occur with strong momentum rarely turn on a dime. So I suspect that we will see the same thing happen this go around and as we zig-zag up, the distance in relation to the 200 dma will diminish given the slope that we are seeing.

For it to break markedly and move towards the 200 dma will most likely require some external event.
