Hi jg. Yes, RAMBUS is/was a major flop and it was a major mistake for Dell to bet an entire product line on it. The problem now is that there is nothing in the pipeline as far as new products are concernd. It will be the second half of the year before Intel releases Solano so I wouldn't expect improvement in desktops until Q3.

Desktop margin compression on old products (BX based) will
continue to be a drag on the bottom line.

j g cordes re: "bet their most profitable....rambus...."

the "perfect model" that the world thought that dell had mastered does not have room for "bets". perfection can only be maintained by "sure things" in the down stream inventory channel. it proves that the "perfect model" was less then "perfect".

dell only affirmed the lessons learned over the last thirty years from the inventors of the "perfect model"...

"when it's good, it's very good....and when it's bad....."
