Let's see what happens when Instinet fires up it's retail arm in April. Whe may not need another central order book after that;)

Exchanges don't have alot of time to move given the creep in %vol being taken on by ECN's. I'm sure they'll go out fighting and screaming.

The combined regulatory body formed by merging the two SRO's and their membership would have regulatory power over the broker-dealers using whichever new system, if any, that winds up being adopted."

Interesting you mentioned that, considering the news of a possible NYSE and NASDAQ merger yesterday. What do you think of that? Does anybody believe it?
