Re: So Much for Alternatives

I just went over to an old Ameritrade account for a couple of trades. It worked great! Orders confirmed quickly. Had to call a rep with a question about partial fills: wait was 10 minutes and rep did her job skillfully.

Please disregard these positive comments! LOL! At a certain point, laughter is better than tears.

The "skillful" rep gave me incorrect information about Ameritrade ordering practices. Those wrong answers cost me $13. Suffice to say, I not only could get no satisfaction from today's rep, I had to argue with him to transfer me to his supervisor. All I got was voice mail.

Is the amount huge? Hardly. This was a small-scale test of Ameritrade, and they failed. Systems worked fine; people worked miserably.

My experience underscores two points:

1. This entire industry oozes with contempt for the customer.

2. To the "Fool me once..." guy: point one is why many of us stay with lousy brokers longer than you think we should. Why change from one horrendous broker to another?

P.

p.s. I still have nothing bad to say about Fido Brokerage.

Optimists think realists are pessimists. They're not. They're disappointed optimists.
