Geez Jim what a horror story.

I had problems with DLJ over the last couple weeks but nothing like you just described.

They did alert and warn about the day's before trades situation.

I didn't even attempt to trade any fast moving issues for a few days till it all got cleared up.

Datek I've never used. I hear ABW is decent. DLJ is too when it's working well and it appears that is right now.

Yes on ATCO, it is starting to all come together very nicely if you have the patience to hold it will be quite beneficial IMO.

Glad you stopped in again. Missed seeing you around here.

:-)
JD

I use Datek most of the time. Good liquidity for the most part as your orders are routed to ISLD ECN. Once in a while MM's ignore you in slow stocks. Probably the better of the online brokers. It's plain and simple if that suits your needs (works for me). Haven't had to contact customer service in at least 6mo's and when I have it was usually a very brief wait.

They also have an express server if you like to play fast moving stocks.

Jim--I use Datek.
They don't make too many mistakes. I have been burned a couple of times. They are not that good any more for shorting. They never seen to have the shares or the stock is not marginable.
All the Best
Druss

Steeliejim: <<experience with Datek>> Lurking and noticed your post. I have been with Datek for over 4 years and have been happy with the service in general. I only use them for trading, not for quotes. Over on the Datek thread, Datek has been badgered for problems with streamer quotes and trade executions. Not being a streamer user I cannot attest to that, but my trades do go through at good execution price, sometimes below my limit when I am a little early (limit usually at bidñ). Recently they have been aggressively conservative listing stocks that are not marginable or shortable. That has not affected me, though others are crying foul (that maybe their problems).
I was originally with Etrade back in the days before Internet and there was a forgotten term known as terminal emulation mode. Etrade was smokin' in those days(they still have it, but health surcharge). When they went Internet, they died in my opinion and I have not traded there for 3 years (still have $ 6 account).
In brief, Datek is not that bad...going through changes. Paul Allen made a healthy investment a year ago, but so far can't tell you what the clients got from it. I think many of the complaints about them may be warranted, but before they post to the Datek thread, they should learn what ping means and how to use it and get a separate quote server. I have been looking around for another broker, but as of yet I have not found any that has fewer problems or more benefits as to what I want. I also have a little used Schwab account and a Fidelity account. They work, they have problems...all brokers do. Datek works best with what I do.
