Nothing new there at all regarding Intel and their DSL modems and chips. It was reported several months ago that the Intel 3100 USB modem would be using a Globespan chip. The Intel 2100 PCI from what I understand is likely using Globespan and ADI/Aware chips. Charles Pluckhahn and others have stated that an Intel/Aware ADSL chipset would not be available until the second half of this year, and from everything I've heard that is going to be what happens. If we are lucky maybe Intel will be showing off an Aware based ADSL chipset at Supercomm in June.

<<Later this year, Intel is expected to introduce its own DSL chip -- a move
that will put it in the up-and-coming communications integrated circuit
market. Intel's DSL modem will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2000
and has a suggested retail price of $295.>>

There are two conflicting statements here it seems. If INTEL is shipping it's DSL chipset in Q1 of 2000, that means now, currently, not later this year.
