I suspect music and Napster is a big part of the demand for large drives. One university reported in that about 2months Napster usage went from 20% to 60% of their internet traffic. That's high growth!

Sarmad -

Thank you for the kind words about the weekend pricing reports. It is the great contributions by several of you that makes this thread worthwhile. Gottfried's article about the brick is the most thought provoking article I have seen for a long time. Wouldn't it be nice if people knew a faster disk drive would save them more time then a faster processor, for much lower cost. Wouldn't it be nice if demand existed for fast drives, quiet drives, large capacity drives and cheap drives instead of just cheap drives. Wouldn't it be nice if drives were measured by more than just capacity so higher prices could be achieved for other value added features. Maybe the new client base that is building will make the purchase of drives more complex so there are other considerations besides low price.

Regards,
Mark
