That's interesting Rambi, and it goes along with what you just know instinctively to be true doesn't it?

The more involved, attentive and nurturing you are as a father. The more spiritually connected you are to the child. I would no more harm my children's beautifully open trusting spirit, then I would cut off my arm, leg or end my life.

I can think of no greater crime.

Michael

Rambi, I have decided to blame this whole thing on you! :-)

If you didn't bring out the feminine nurturing side of me so well. I wouldn't lapse into trying to talk about things which I have little experience describing.

This kind of thing probably happens a lot to men who try and explain emotional bonding times with their children.

Next time I'll do what most men find comfortable doing.

I'll go buy a card and post the link. :-)

Michael

"It is clear that humanization of both
fathering and of the child, which is inherent in daily physical care of the child, erects a
strong barrier against later exploitation of parent-child intimacy."

IMO this is a shakey argument. It is possible that all of the people in this sample were Mormons or ex-Mormons. This is a group (ordinarily of superior morality) who as fathers cannot be trusted around their daughters whom they sometimes marry or hand over to their brothers to marry.
Aside from Mormonism, there are many cases of men being convicted of sexual abuse of their children for simply washing their genitals. One excellent reason for having boy children circumsized is that ordinary sanitation of the male uncircumsized child requires actions that can easily be considered as sexual abuse. Any man who bathes with his children better record it on videotape or have trustworthy witnesses around. Not a bad idea for women too. There are parents, grandfathers and grandmothers in jail all over this country who IMO were framed by manipulated kids for sexual abuse.

When I originally commented on this, I had only read the last sentence.

I had no idea it was about a 'study' of a group in UT.

Sometimes I just go to the bottom line of an article as I click through posts.

Within that last sentence, I commented that I found the choice of a particular verb, [in stead of some equally expressive verb], noteworthy.

So, I noted it.

I don't think I commented on anything but that last sentence.
