thread

Good night all. I have a meeting from 8am to 3pm central time tommorrow. Talk about IBM cramping my style. I wish I could be watching CNBC all day to see if they talk about dELL. I might have to "forget" to go to the bathroom before the meeting so I can get a quote 30 minutes after the market opens.

I hope tommorrow is another one for the good guys.

Dell opted not to use either chip in a Dimension system right now for lack of customer demand, says spokesperson Maria Krinsky. Dell's entry-level Dimension desktops run Celeron-466 and Pentium III-550 chips. The processor situation is already too complex, and adding two Celerons to the mix just confuses matters more, she says. But Dell may reconsider.

COMMENT:
Since when do OEM's make their own roadmaps?

Schick,

That is very weird.....they sound like very p*ssed off OEM's!

chic, about the lack of support from OEM's for Intel's 550-600 MHz Celerons. Have you noticed how many PeeWeeIII 550's and 600's are on the shelves compared to the higher speed grades?

How would a retailer ever get rid of these machines costing $1000 to $1200 if there were a Celeron 600 sitting next to it selling for $200 less? Let alone a K6-2-550 for $500 less.

They wouldn't. Therefore the retailers have to wait until their Pentium III 550's and 600's sell off.

It could also be true that these Celeron 550-600's are only offered in the FCPGA package. THere just aren't enough FCPGA motherboards to go around.
