Go into a ghetto market in the District, and you will find all sorts of pathetic booklets purporting to help one hit the jackpot through dream interpretation or numerology, or some other lame-brained method. Lotteries feed off of these people's misery and credulity, and exacerbate it. The only possible justification is that the dollars would otherwise go to organized crime. I am not conversant enough with the research to know if it holds any water........

<<Unlike the state sponsored lotteries which do prey on the the lowest on the economic scale, casino gambling is a disaster for all levels of society.>>

There's a casino boat 30 miles from here. I know of a guy who after filing bankruptcy went over and hit a slot for over $400,000. His creditors were racing to get their shares but not fast enough. Casino comped him a room etc. and had it back in 3 days.
