Gary - Great American Pie site. Wonder how many kids will turn it into an instant term paper?
Personally, I think the author is reading way too much into the song, but his/her annotations on the musical references are impressive. The only real disagreement (being a nit-picky, pedantic sort myself) is that I wouldn't describe Dylan's jacket on the cover of The Freewheeling Bob Dylan as a "red windbreaker".

>>Speaking of the song "American Pie" (haven't we buried that yet?)<< Guess I've been Diggin' Up Bones but here is another interesting interpretation of Don McLean's American Pie.

Pardon me if this is repeating a previously posted link but I did a search and did not see it. Some is the same as your link to:
octopus.cnchost.com

but some is different. Guess I should look into concordance software <G>.

IMHO, still not as bad as my high school English teacher interpreting Beowulf for me in the original Anglo-Saxon rhyme which sounded like 'e owul gifstol a wr‘c micel eyen stoof lak thet or choking on something.

Oh, yes my local PBS channel is (and has been) playing "Do Wop 50" day-in and day-out interrupted only by pledge drives. I like the music...

Head's up to fans of the "Material Girl". She says you must pay, including her new copyrighted version of "Miss American Pie".

OT to Zakrosian, I looked but did not find anything informative on Stan Jones. I'll be looking for Joy of Cooking next time I go hunting. : )
