Abbigail, while you are completely correct about the governement interference affecting the stock price in general, IMHO, today's downdraft is more about the earnings and the future. I am perplexed that their vision of the future suddenly got so negative. I am sure many others feel the same way. The instant reaction under those circumstances is to bail (for the professional investor) and wait and see for the retail (like me) investor. I won't blame the gov for today's loss...

Abby: did the government make you buy and forbid you to sell msft. when I take a loss on any trade, it is my fault and no one elses. I hardly have time to blame someone else for my investment decisions.
