Elizabeth, you have a reputation for doing your homework, almost brutally so. In my mind your being on the long side of this trade is significant.

I think I can provide an analogy as to the motivations of the principals here. I am an apartment redeveloper, and typically I buy one or more vintage older buildings in transitional neighborhoods in larger cities. My formula is to boot out the criminals, bon-bon eaters (welfare queens), then fix and clean the places up, work on improving the surrounding neighborhood, and rerent to carefully screened working people. I then sell WHEN I'M READY AND AT MY PRICE. There have been times when the market was weak and I received low ball offers. I ignore them and wait.

This is the seminal, once in a lifetime project for FGX's ownership group. Having essentially been there, done that, I can understand why they won't sell cheap. In fact they probably are turning down reasonable offers for today's climate. For us with little emotional involvement, a $10 buyout is fine. We just take the money and run off to the next good idea. But for these guys it's an insult, and I completely understand and sympathize. Therefore, I don't really expect a buyout until market conditions improve substantially or Marlin pans out big. At that point, $20 may be doable.

Hello again,

Your record of shorting is legendary, but can the same be said for your longs?

Claude is still educating me on this one. The 3 year chart looks like crap,...slowly dying, with several staged gasps for air as it bleeds to death internally. Why is this?

<< I'm long FGX ...>>

Eliz, it looks that we are in agrement on one long and a few shorts these days (alhough I never short, just stay away).

I can't wait for you to come on the BAY thread so we can convinced you to get long this one as well.
