Kemble babes, if Dell net margins are 10% by year end, as Schneider indicated, they will earn about $1.66 / share next year. At 10.5%, they would earn $1.75 / share. This would make their PE, based on today's closing price and next year's earnings, 26. Not so terrible! With a 5 year growth rate of 30%, they are trading at a DISCOUNT to future earnings.

If you convert this to cash basis eps (assuming the same rate as this Q), they could earn $2.56 / share on a cash basis. This would make their PEG ratio .58 (ratio of stock price/next year's cash eps/ 30% five year growth rate).

I expect many upgrades tomorrow. Look out for Penguins!

i'm confused - right now only bid at 47 9/16? a blowout of earnings, and the 'pop' we get in DELL probably won't get us to where we were at the beginning of the week? it certainly won't get us even near where this stock was only a couple of weeks ago. From 56 to 44 in short order - that's a 21% decline. Who thinks we'll gain 27% anytime soon to get back to 56? it seems disappointing that we'll hardly regain any lost ground on such 'blowout' reports... comments? b

kemble, what do you know about Dell developing new PDAs (personal digital assistants), both wired and wireless to compete with the booming cell phone/internet market?

just think what Dell could do in Coms or NTT's proposed space...with Dell's model
