Silicon, it 's not that.I would call it rather a political game. Mission must be accomplished.
I think, Willcousa is right...some notes from his posts:

and back to Willcousa <That was a good list of excuses to keep hiking rates but I am telling you the real reason that rates will continue to rise is because AG is determining the outcome of the next presidential election. If he were not on this mission he would have retired rather than stand for reconfirmation. Either way the effect on the economy is the same and that is your main point, I believe.>

Actually, as I recall Greenspan ran an econometrics firm by the name of Townsend/Greenspan Analytics before entering the realm of government. The firm was sold for some pretty substantial dollars, so I doubt Alan is hurting for cash. Besides, I'm sure his wife is pulling in some decent bucks from the wonderful world of network TV <gggg>...
