Wayne:
I was at Pimlico yesterday. Speed was not holding up on
the off track. Off-pace was the way to bet.

There's a lot of speed in the Preakness. I see 4 horses
competing for the lead. Should set up nicely for the favorite and Steve.

This is the first Preakness that I will miss since 1973.
With the weather here in Maryland, I picked a good day to
skip it.

Good luck,

Bob

Wayne, Well, as it turned out, FP didn't show up today. I think it was a combo of the mud in his face, the mugging by Hal's Hope, the 2 week turnaround for the first time in his career and a horse in front of him who didn't quit. However, none of the above or worse would have stopped a real super horse. Baffert said before the race that we hadn't seen how he would perform without a real clean trip. Now we have.

I didn't bet the race as I just couldn't find anyone to believe in who would pay. I thought maybe Capt. Steve, but he did little. Hefner looked good for half the race. YOu should know he wasn't a good bet. Hefner wrote all those articles for me about how NOT to finish too fast. <g>
