A little bit of trivia......

A long time ago, the English had adopted this system: a mouthful was a ro; a handful was a jigger; 2 jiggers were a jack; 2 jacks were a jill; 2 jills made a cup; etc. In the 1600's King Charles I lived lavishly and spent the royal treasury. To raise money, he taxed the jack and the jill. He also made their official size smaller. To get around the tax, peasants stopped using the jack and the jill as measurements, and they made up a rhyme:

"Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after"

The crown refers to the English unit of money.
